Featuring a dog and cat with a beach backdrop, Florida’s Animal Friend specialty license plate has been redesigned.
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles announced the redesign Thursday. The new Animal Friend license plate will be available by Oct. 7.
To purchase the license plate, motorists should contact their local tax collector or tax agency office for availability, according to a news release. The plate costs $25 in addition to other registration fees.
“The Animal Friend specialty license plate was enacted during the 2004 Legislative session and has been available since April 2005,” the release states. “The funds raised from this specialty license plate are distributed to Florida Animal Friend Inc. to fund spay and neuter programs in the state.”
As of Sept. 1, there were 19,589 registered Animal Friend specialty license plates, according to the release.
