EAST MANATEE -- To accommodate area growth and an increasing customer base in Manatee County, Bright House Networks is adding a new call center to its East Manatee facility and is hiring 155 new employees to fill it.
Manatee County commissioners approved Bright House for $155,000 in performance-based incentives based on adding 155 jobs over the next three years, according to a press release dated Aug. 26. The jobs must pay 15 percent more than the average annual wage in Manatee County. The City of Bradenton has offered to expedite permitting when the company renovates its current facility at 5413 State Road 64 East to accommodate additional staff.
“The Bradenton Area EDC, Manatee County Government and the City of Bradenton worked together to encourage Bright House Networks to establish its new customer support center in Bradenton,” Sharon Hillstrom, president and chief executive officer of the Bradenton Area Economic Development Corp., said in the press release. “This collaboration is helping to stimulate creation of 155 jobs in the areas of customer service, technical support and administration.” Currently, calls from Manatee County customers are being fielded through centers in St. Petersburg and Tampa. With the new center, Manatee calls will be routed to a Bright House facility at 5413 State Road 64, which currently houses 140 employees, including service technicians, installers and dispatchers.
"Adding the call center brings additional resources for BrightHouse Networks to meet customer demands and future growth," said Bright House spokesman Joe Durkin.
Calls to Bright House are now answered in 30 seconds or less, he added.
The 24-hour, full service call center will help customers add service, request service technicians and pay their bills, among other options. The additional employees will be hired directly from the community.
The hiring process already has begun and those interested in applying can visit brighthouse.com/careers for more information.
"We're looking for people who can communicate well, be outstanding customer-service reps with strong commitments to customer service," Durkin said, adding that bilingual skills are always a plus.
Training for the first round of new hires will begin at the end of the month.
Bright House Networks has more than 2.4 million customers in several large cities, including Tampa and Orlando.
The cable, Internet and phone provider also has operations in California, Indiana, Michigan and Alabama.
