UNIVERSITY PARK -- Swiss watch maker Invicta is starting the clock on its grand opening inside the Mall at University Town Center.
The 177-year-old company filed a building application Monday for a 1,950-square-foot boutique on the mall's second level near Dillard's. The two-level, 880,000-square-foot mall is expected to open Oct. 16 off of Cattlemen Road and University Parkway.
Invicta was founded in 1837 in Chiasso, Switzerland, and had a renaissance in the 1990s leading to stores around the world. The company, now based in Broward County, has stores inside International Plaza in Tampa and Westfield Brandon mall and will be the first in the Bradenton-Sarasota market.
Invicta will have company selling watches in the mall, including Fast-Fix Jewelry and Watch Repairs, Omega and several jewelry stores and department stores. Invicta watches can fetch prices surpassing $300 and even in excess of $500, according to prices posted by department stores online.
The Mall at UTC will feature anchors Macy's, Dillard's, Saks Fifth Avenue, several restaurants and stores like Apple, Crate & Barrel, H&M and more than 100 others.
