ELLENTON -- Chili's Grill & Bar and Dunkin' Donuts are adding new locations near the Ellenton Kmart.
Dirt is being moved at 6010 U.S. 301 N. after a building permit was issued earlier this month for a 6,126-square-foot restaurant. A lease for the 1.47-acre outparcel was signed with the land's owner, LMS Commerical Real Estate, on July 11, according to court records. The Chili's will be built at U.S. 301 and 60th Avenue East, across from Circle K.
The Ellenton Chili's would be the third Manatee County location for the Dallas-based chain. The restaurant also has locations at 3715 First St., Bradenton and 6125 Exchange Way in Lakewood Ranch.
The company underwent a face lift of its area restaurants recently and in a company-wide launch, it installed touch screen tablets in the dining room to allow patrons to order food while the server is away.
Dunkin' Donuts will be on the opposite corner of the North River Village property, in a 2,905-square-foot building. Construction is expected to begin late this year and the store will open in early 2015, according to a company spokesperson.
Dunkin' Donuts is in the midst of adding several locations in the Manatee-Sarasota market over the past year.
Dunkin' signed a lease for the University Groves development in June for a new restaurant on University Parkway beside Culver's Frozen Custard & ButterBurgers. Another location is in the works for State Road 70 and U.S. 301 in front of the Walmart Supercenter, operated by Tampa-based Velocity Brands. That company opened the Manatee Avenue West Dunkin' in December 2013 and also owns the 14th Street West location in Bradenton and one in Palmetto.
The outparcels were approved as site plan improvements in April 2013, according to county records, while the structures themselves were approved through a Manatee County planning review this month.
