ELLENTON -- Taco Bell wants to bring its quesadillas and crunch wraps to a new location in Ellenton.
Taco Bell is seeking permission from Manatee County government to build a 2,804-square-foot restaurant at 6025 U.S. 301 N., Ellenton.
The location is expected to open in February or March, according to a Taco Bell spokeswoman.
To make way for the Taco Bell, the former Sonic and Just Brakes along U.S. 301 west of McDonald's have been demolished.
Taco Bell has continued to launch menu items, most notably breakfast offerings, earlier this year. This week, Taco Bell launched new bowls and burritos with 20 grams or more of protein while being 500 calories or less, trying to offer more healthful items. The chain also expanded its testing of Three Happy Cows Greek yogurt in Omaha, Neb., this week for its breakfast menu in addition to adding breakfast burrito bowls.
The Ellenton Taco Bell would be the seventh location in Manatee County and the second one north of the Manatee River.
