MANATEE -- Cargor Partners Investments LLC, owned in part by developer Carlos Beruff, is set to expand his Curiosity Creek Development after the planning commission approved allowing the developer to add 150,000 square feet of commercial space to his development.
The 20-acre addition will bring the development to a total of 808 acres, according to county documents. The additional acres are located at the northwest corner of Artisan Lakes Parkway and Buckeye Road, county documents said.
The Curiosity Creek site is near Port Manatee, north of Buckeye Road, east of U.S. 41, west of Grass Farm Road, extending north to the Hillsborough County line.
Listed as "positive aspects" of the request, planners wrote: "Commercial uses may support port-related and/or residential uses in the area."
Under negative aspects, they wrote: "None."
Port Executive Director Carlos Buqueras said the planning commission's vote "reaffirms the need for more warehousing and commercial development by Port Manatee."
The applicant was listed as Cargor Partners Investments LLC, with offices at 2212 58th Ave. E., Bradenton, according to state records.
The address is the same as that of Medallion Home, a housing development company founded and headed by Beruff.

Since the planning commission is an advisory body, the matter still must win approval of the Manatee County Commission, which has the final say.
