BRADENTON -- A frequent buyer of southwest Florida mobile home parks has gone halfsies for a community on the edge of the largest concentration of mobile home parks in Bradenton.
Michael Hickmann, who owns several mobile home communities in the Bradenton-Sarasota area, bought a 50-percent interest in the Wayside Mobile Home Park on July 31. The West Bend, Wis. company he manages and a St. Petersburg company paid $3.63 million for the 121-unit park, according to Manatee County property records.
Located at 5120 14th St. E. near the intersection with 53rd Ave. W., Wayside Mobile Home Park is part of a row of similar parks on the west side of Tamiami Trail. Nearby mobile home parks include Fair Lane Acres, Casa Loma Mobile Home Park and Village on the Greens. Taken together, the area's mobile parks take up the bulk of the real estate between Cortez Road West and 63rd Avenue and 14th Street East and Ninth Street East.
The purchase is Hickmann's second in the Bradenton area in less than a year. In October, he bought Mermaid Manor, a 79-unit park a block north of Cortez Road West on 14th Street West, for $2.1 million.

According to state records,
Hickmann-managed companies own numerous mobile home and RV parks in the Bradenton Sarasota area, including Fisherman's Cove Resort in Palmetto.
Last month's sale of Wayside Mobile Home Park marks the highest amount ever paid for the property.
It sold for $1.38 million in 2003, then for $2.5 million two years later.
