LAKEWOOD RANCH -- A growing information technology management and business consulting business is opening an office on Main Street and expects to triple the size of its local workforce in the next year.
Tampa-based Tekhausen will open a 1,200-square-foot office at 8131 Main St. on Oct. 1 with four people recently hired from the Manatee-Sarasota area. Still a month away from moving in, the company is already eyeing an adjacent, second-floor office space and is looking to have about a dozen people working in the larger space.
Tekhausen's local employees will service eight of the company's customers. The new office gives them quick face-to-face access.
Tekhausen, a software integrator, puts IT personnel and consultants onsite with companies that have purchased Microsofts Dynamics business software suite. They install the software, then show clients how to use it to better run aspects of their business, including finance, inventory, warehousing and human resources.
Founded in 2004, Tekhausen currently has 56 employees and will have locations in Tampa, Lakewood Ranch, Nashville and Dallas.
Tekhausen's new office is in a rare vacancy on Main Street. In April, the area's leasing company, Lakewood Ranch Commercial Realty, rented out the last commercial space available at the time.
Burger and Beer Joint coming to new mall
UNIVERSITY PARK -- Miami-based Burger and Beer Joint has filed plans to open a restaurant in the Mall at University Town Center.
The restaurant's website is advertising it is "opening soon" at the mall and filed a building application Tuesday with Sarasota County for its exterior section.
The restaurant features big, beefy burgers with inventive combinations, such as shrimp toppings or prosciutto, in addition to craft beer, liquor and adult shakes.
Burger and Beer Joint also has restaurants in Orlando, Pembroke Pines, South Beach and Brickell.
The building permit filed for Burger and Beer Joint is listed in the same space as Zinburger Wine & Burger Bar, leaving uncertainty about the restaurant's future at the mall. A spokesman for Zinburger did not return a phone call seeking comment by deadline Tuesday.
The Mall at UTC at University Parkway and N. Cattlemen Road is expected to open Oct. 16.
