MANATEE COUNTY -- United Airlines is adding non-stop daily service next spring between Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport and the its New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport.
The flights will begin Feb. 12 and continue through May 5. United will use Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 154 seats; 16 in first class. From the Newark hub, United serves 142 domestic and international destinations. Daily flights are scheduled to arrive at SRQ at 12:56 p.m. and leave SRQ at 1:41 p.m. to arrive in Newark at 4:21 p.m.
United already serves SRQ with year-round daily non-stop flights to the carrier's Chicago O'Hare hub.
"The Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport and the community have provided strong support for our Chicago service and we look forward to a great partnership with these new flights to our New York/Newark gateway hub," said Michael Brooks, United's sales manager for central and north Florida.
Fredrick J. Piccolo, president, chief executive officer at SRQ, said the United flights are a return of service to the community. "We look forward to exploring other opportunities for expansion in the future," he said.
