Local barrier company thriving
BRADENTON -- Stop Rubbernecking, the company that created a portable barrier system for concealing accidents, has had recent success selling in California.
The Ventura County Sheriff's Department and the Culver City, Oxnard, Indio and Inglewood police departments have each purchased the SRN1000, a privacy screen and barrier used mostly for law enforcement that prevents prying eyes at accident scenes and keeps officers safe while working.
The mobile screen has been purchased by 13 Florida law enforcement agencies, including the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, Daytona Beach Police Department and Green Acres Police Department.
Never miss a local story.
Coroners and investigators also use the screen to limit possible contamination and interruptions to investigations on scene.
Marina again cited for environmental excellence
LONGBOAT KEY -- Longboat Key Club Moorings has won its 12th consecutive Florida Clean Marina designation.
The Sarasota marina at The Resort at Longboat Key Club is among 283 marinas that have received the designation since January 2014. Awarded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Florida Clean Marina seal of approval is given to select moorings throughout the state that participate in a voluntary program that requires adherence to guidelines and best management practices that support environmental stewardship.
The accolade acknowledges that a marina has implemented a set of environmental measures designed to protect Florida's waterways, including maintaining sensitive habitat, waste management, storm water control, spill prevention and emergency preparedness.
Longboat Key Club Moorings is located at ICW MM 79.5 by sea or at 2630 Harbourside Drive in Longboat Key.
