UNIVERSITY PARK -- Not all bling will break the bank at the Mall at University Town Center as Icing, a division of Claire's, will join the mall when it opens Oct. 16.
Icing applied Thursday with Sarasota County to build a 1,200-square-foot store inside the mall. The store will be on the first level of the mall between Aldo and Things Remembered near Dillard's.
Icing labels itself as a store "for the 23-year-old young woman" as its sister company Claire's targets girls between 7 and 18. Icing operates 400 stores in North America and offers low-price accessories and jewelry.
Icing has 21 Florida stores including one at Westfield Brandon and would be the first in the Bradenton-Sarasota market.
Never miss a local story.
The affordable accessories store is a sharp contrast to the upscale stores filling up the mall including Kay Jewelers, Mayors Jewelers and Zales.
People interested in applying at Icing can visit www.clairescareers.com and either submit a resume, create a job alert for new positions or search for openings in Sarasota.
The two-level, 880,000-square-foot mall on Cattlemen Road and University Parkway will feature more than 100 stores and restaurants.
