UNIVERSITY PARK -- Radio retailer Bose is ready to pump some bass into the new Mall at University Town Center.
Bose applied for a building permit Tuesday with Sarasota County to build a 1,400-square-foot store inside the mall beside Saks Fifth Avenue and Kate Spade on the second level of the mall.
Bose, known for its compact radios will full acoustic sounds, also has a factory store inside the Ellenton Premium Outlets and a retail store inside International Plaza in Tampa.
Bose was founded by Dr. Amar G. Bose in 1964, who wanted to find a way to mimic live music through the radio.
The 880,000-square-foot mall on Cattlemen Road and University Parkway is expected to open Oct. 16, the first truly indoor mall to open in the country since the Mall at Turtle Creek opened in 2006 in Jonesboro, Ark. The mall is being developed in partnership between Taubman Centers and Benderson Development Co.
Anchors include Apple, Crate & Barrel, H&M, Macy's, Dillard's and Saks Fifth Avenue, as well as several restaurants and fast food options.
