Building in Lansdowne Crescent
UNIVERSITY PARK -- A John Neal Homes community in University Park Country Club will see new home building after a seven-year halt.
If approved by Manatee County, Lansdowne Crescent will get 19 additional homes on the third hole of the golf course. All homes, ranging from 2,300 to 2,800 square feet, will start in the high $400,000s.
Never miss a local story.
The extra homes are part of the area's Developments of Regional Impact plan, which was approved in 1981.
"It's one of the remaining parcels that was available and not developed yet in University Park," said John Neal, president of John Neal Homes. "We just brought the homes online because we had finished selling the other lots, which we had already constructed."
The developer unveiled its first model home, the Savoy, in late February. The 2,500-square-foot model features three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a grand entry and a den.
County planners will review the second set of comments due April 23 before the project moves forward.

Tax assistance availableas filing deadline nears
The federal tax deadline of April 15 is fast approaching.
For those not ready to file their taxes, now is the time to ask the Internal Revenue Service for more time to file a tax return.
Filing an extension offers an extra six months to complete tax return paperwork. Those asking for an extension will need to file form 4868 -- an application for automatic extension of time to file for U.S individual income tax return. Form 8868 is an application for extension of time to file an exempt organization return.
An extension only offers extra time to file paperwork but not an extension of time to pay. Extensions only push back the due date for paperwork.
If you owe money, you have to estimate the amount, then file your extension and make your payment by April 15.
The last day to file an extension is April 15. With an extension, all tax paperwork is due Oct. 15.
