LONGBOAT KEY -- It turns out that international fashion designer Michael Kors is the mystery buyer who picked up a Longboat Key vacant lot for $6 million in November.
A limited liability company that traces back to Kors' Greenwich Village address in New York he has on file with the Securities and Exchange Commission matches that of the buyer of two lots at 6281 and 6271 Gulf of Mexico Drive, totaling 2.25 acres.
Kors' company for the home, Paulinebea LLC and his Greenwich Village company both share a listed address of 65 W. 13th St., Unit 11D, according to property records.
Kors, whose net worth is valued around $1 billion, is known for designing luxury handbags that fetch hundreds of dollars.

Kors, born Karl Anderson Jr., married boyfriend Lance LaPere in 2011. Kors has a store inside the International Plaza in Tampa, a Taubman Centers property, and is believed to be opening a store at the Mall at University Town Center, set to open Oct. 16 on Cattlemen Road and Univer
Michael Saunders & Co. handled the sale, but the agency signed a non-disclosure agreement and cannot discuss that sale, spokesman Tom Heatherman told the Bradenton Herald, and said the Herald would have to ask Kors.
No building plans have been filed for the property, said Alaina Ray, director of planning, zoning and building for the town of Longboat Key. A brushing permit was issued to clear the property, she said.
Sarasota Magazine real estate blogger Bob Plunket first floated the theory Tuesday that Kors bought the property but wrote he could not make the connection.
Request for comment from Kors' representative was not returned by deadline Wednesday.
