UNIVERSITY PARK -- Luxury watchmaker Omega will open a boutique store inside the new Mall at University Town Center.
Omega filed a building permit Friday for a 1,747-square-foot store inside the $315 million, 880,000-square-foot mall that's under construction at Cattlemen Road and University Parkway.
This would become the sixth Omega boutique in Florida with the closest in Orlando's Mall at Millenia. Both the Orlando mall and Mall at UTC are leased by Taubman Centers.
Omega's watches can go for $3,000 to upwards of $8,000 at most specialty stores and special edition watches can easily cost as much as an entry-level luxury car at $30,000.
They are known for all being shock resistant and anti-magnetic, but also for being on the wrists of celebrities like Michael Phelps, George Clooney and international man of mystery James Bond.
The mall is expected to open Oct. 16 and so far includes retailers American Eagle Outfitters, Brooks Brothers, Champs Sports, Foot Locker, Oil & Vinegar, Sephora, Smoothie King, department stores Dillard's, Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue featuring a Sophie's restaurant, plus restaurants BRIO Tuscan Grille, Capital Grille, Cheesecake Factory, Kona Grill and Seasons 52.
