CORTEZ -- Two local deals put commercial properties in new hands.
Brentwood Inlet RV Park is now under complete control of a construction company after a local restauratuer sold his interest for $806,000.
The 6.34-acre park at 12316 Cortez Road W., was purchased by a company managed by Whitehead Construction Inc., according to property records and business filings, buying out the remaining 26 percent interest from Ed Chiles, chief executive officer of The Chiles Group.
"I have all intentions to keeping that open for what it is -- a RV park -- for many, many years," said Brent Whitehead, owner of Whitehead Construction.
Whitehead Construction is largely known for making elegant tropical mansions in the Manatee-Sarasota area, and also performs Department of Environmental Protection consulting.
Former Genmar boating warehouse sold to firm
A former Genmar boating production plant in Tallevast is now in the hands of an Arizona investment group at a $5 million loss for the seller.
Praetorian Capital of Scottsdale, Ariz., purchased the plant, 7150 15th St. E, for $1.26 million from Sarasota Real Property LLC., according to property records. Praetorian is an investment company owned by Longview Real Estate.
After Genmar ceased production at the plant in 2008, the company sold it to Sarasota Real Property, a company managed by Beverly Hills Platinum Equity attorney Eva Kalawski, for $6.5 million in 2010, according to property records.
The property includes three warehouses, totaling 221,163 square feet.
