LONGBOAT KEY -- Vacant land on Jewfish Key that once was owned by former Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris' brother-in-law is now in the hands of a Canadian law firm.
For $950,000, a company that shares the address of Edmonton lawfirm McLennan Ross acquired 0.605 acre at 7145 La Lenaire Drive, Jewfish Key, also known as La Lenaire Isle. Jewfish Key is only accessible by boat and has six homes built on it.
The plot of land was sold by Charles Ball, the trustee of the estate of Bengt Ebbeson, who owned an industrial company that made appliances and seatbelts that was eventually sold to Electrolux. Bengt Ebbeson and his brother Anders Ebbeson worked together at that company, Origoverken, which was operated by their father, who also named Bengt Ebbeson. Anders Ebbeson, who died in November, was married to Harris.
The new owners plan to build a house on the land, said Ball.
Joan Bergstrom of Michael Saunders & Co. represented the seller.
