LAKEWOOD RANCH - Texas Roadhouse, the self-described ‘loudest restaurant” in the nation is already raising a ruckus in Lakewood Ranch in large part because it’s bringing in 200 new jobs before its May 27 opening.
The restaurant has already generated dozens of jobs as construction crews build the 250-seat, 7,100-square-foot company-owned restaurant. Texas Roadhouse spokesman Travis Doster confirmed that the restaurant plans to begin interviewing potential employees this month when recruitment for the restaurant jobs, sixty percent of them part-time, begins March 25 practically across the street from the construction site at the Holiday Inn Express, 5464 Lena Road.
The stand-alone restaurant will be at 5710 Ranch Lake Blvd. in the River Club Plaza shopping center, which is anchored by a new Walmart Supercenter.
It will be he rapidly-expanding Texas Roadhouse’s newest location, and its 15th in the Sunshine State.
Although the restaurant’s location is outside of Schroeder-Manatee Ranch/LWR Communities, Lisa M. Barnott, SMR’s director of marketing and communications welcomed the news. “Every new business that opens in the areas surrounding Lakewood Ranch lends support to the fact that growth in Lakewood Ranch is helping drive the economic progress of the community,” she said.
The company’s unorthodox and successful “super-local” business model includes no lunch during weekdays, line-dancing wait staff, and“loud country-western” themed juke boxes. There are peanut shells all over the place, on-site butchers and bakers, and the rustic southwestern lodge decor is accentuated with hand-painted murals, neon signs, prints, rugs and artifacts.
The casual dining restaurant chain offers an assortment of specially seasoned and aged steaks cooked over open gas-fired grills. In addition to steaks, it features ribs, fish, seafood, chicken, pork chops, pulled pork, vegetable plates, and an assortment of hamburgers, salads and sandwiches.
The 235,000-square-foot River Club Plaza retail development where the restaurant will be built is anchored by a Walmart Supercenter at the intersection of Interstate 75 and State Road 70.
“The development of River Club Plaza is evidence of Manatee County’s growth demands, particularly within the Lakewood Ranch community,” said Garrett Williams, vice president for SRS Real Estate Partners Tampa office, in a press release. “This expanding submarket will greatly benefit from the complimentary mix of retailers such as Walmart Supercenter, Texas Roadhouse, Tire Choice and other national brands currently in negotiation.”
