MANATEE — Dental products manufacturer DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe is consolidating its operations into one facility in Manatee County, a move that is expected to create 48 new jobs this year.
The company, publicly traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange, will consolidate operations from two Bradenton facilities and one located in Baldwin, Ga. into a new location, formerly known as the Hi-Stat Building, at 7290 26th Court E. in south Manatee County.
DENTSPLY is filling positions now, although the consolidation will not be complete until August, according to Sharon Hillstrom, president of the Manatee Economic Development Corp.
The Manatee County commissioners approved $48,000 in performance-based incentives, and the state contributed $288,000 to accelerate the company’s local hiring. DENTSPLY also qualified for expedited permitting.

The company plans to invest $2.5 million in facility improvements during the next six months.
“Since 2008, the DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe business has nearly doubled in volume, pushing the limits of our available manufacturing space,” Brad Clatt, business unit manager for DENTSPLY, said in a statement. “As we analyzed options for consolidation and expansion, we determined that Florida’s high concentration of medical device manufacturers and suppliers makes the state very attractive.”
The company’s operations in Manatee County will include more than 20 injection molding machines, high-speed cutting systems and resin extruders. The sales, marketing, and support staff also will be located here.
The new facility will house more than 200 employees to serve orthodontic and dental customers in 38 countries worldwide, with room to grow, Clatt said.
The $2.8-billion parent company is one of the world’s largest makers of professional dental products and has recently expanded into consumable medical devices.
DENTSPLY reported a record $738.0 million in net sales in the fourth quarter, a 29.9 percent increase from $568.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2010. Net sales, excluding precious metals content, of $677.8 million increased 30, according to the latest filing with the Security Exchange Commission.
Net income attributable to DENTSPLY International for the fourth quarter of 2011 was $40.6 million, or $0.28 per diluted share, compared to $0.47 per diluted share in the fourth quarter of 2010.
The company is currently seeking to fill various positions in manufacturing, production and support. Interested candidates can send resumes to firstname.lastname@example.org, or apply in person at 1912 44th Ave. E. in Bradenton.
