MANATEE -- Existing home and condominium sales rose slightly last month, according to figures released today.
Sales of pre-owned single family homes in the Bradenton/Sarasota market rose 3 percent in April compared to April 2010, the Florida Realtors trade group reported. Condo sales grew by 1 percent.
Local Realtors closed 1.033 homes sales last month, 32 more than they closed in April 2010. The median sales price was $155,700, a 5 percent drop from $163,000 a year earlier.
Realtors sold 409 condos last month, three more than in April 2010. The median price fell another 8 percent, from $154,100 in April 2010 to $142,300 last month.
Statewide, home sales rose 2 percent and condo sales by 17 percent, the trade group said. The statewide median was $131,700 for homes and $91,900 for condos. Both were down 8 percent from year-ago levels.
U.S. home sales unexpectedly fell by 0.8 percent to a 5.05 million annual pace last month, the National Association of Realtors reported.
