MANATEE -- Locally, Jose’s Real Cuban Food is known for providing Bradenton residents with authentic Cuban food without a trip to Havana or Miami.
And at 9 p.m. on June 6, the rest of the country will be able to see what it’s missing when an episode of Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Drives” airs.
Spiky-haired host Guy Fieri dined on picadillo, paella and boliche when he visited Jose’s in February.
And owner Jose Baserva is still in shock over the whole thing. “It’s unreal,” he said Saturday.
Never miss a local story.
He got picked for the show after 12 customers emailed producers about his food within nine months.
When he first opened an email asking him to be on the show, Baserva said, “I thought it was a joke.”
He said he and Fieri had a blast during the filming, and he’s certain the “Triple D” crew enjoyed the food.
“I can’t wait to see it,” Baserva said.
Jose’s is at 8799 Cortez Road.
