LAKEWOOD RANCH -- Filmmakers from around the world might soon have the opportunity to show their work -- and perhaps stay for a few days -- in Manatee County.
The newly formed Movieville International Film Festival seeks submissions. It’s requesting features, shorts, documentaries and animated content.
Deadline is May 15.
The festival takes place June 17-19 in Sarasota Film Society’s Lakewood Ranch Cinemas.
Never miss a local story.
The overall theme is “to focus on new and emerging filmmakers of all races, ethnic groups and nationalities, whether they are undergraduate and/or graduate film students or filmmakers of any age starting out on their flimmaking careers,” according to The Sarasota County Film & Entertainment Office’s website.
“Submissions will be carefully vetted and independently judged.”
Family friendly content is preferred and priority will be given to submissions from Florida residents.
Sanborn Studios, Sara- sota Film Society and The Sarasota County Film & Entertainment Office are listed as the sponsors of Movieville on the festival’s website.
