Less than two months after 30 full-time employees were let go at its Port Manatee facility, Air Products laid off 26 people in Hanover Township, Pa., according to The Citizens’ Voice of Wilkes-Barre.
The newspaper reported this marked the fourth round of layoffs at the plant since January.
Air Products supplies gases, chemicals and equipment to companies in the composite, agriculture, medical and energy industries, among others.
Air Products is one of 67 companies that entered into economic development incentive agreements with Manatee County since the program began in 2009.
Air Products spokesman Art George said in July that the company met all previous job goals to receive incentive dollars from Manatee County, but “we will not meet the final target number this year.” The final goal was 200 jobs.
