MANATEE - More than $26,000 in jewelry was stolen during a break-in at the Kmart store in Ellenton early this morning, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The burglars entered the store, 6126 U.S. 301 N., about 4:18 a.m. by prying open the doors in the garden center. Security video reveals they went to the jewelry counter, smashed it and grabbed several items.
Deputies responding to an alarm searched the interior of the store with a police dog, and then tried to establish a track but to no avail.
