BRADENTON - The Bradenton Housing Authority has been identified as one of 20 public housing authorities being given the opportunity to compete for the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department’s “Moving to Work” demonstration program.
The program allows public housing authorities to design and test ways to promote self-sufficiency among assisted families, achieve programmatic efficiency and reduce costs and increase housing choice for low-income households.
“This is an opportunity for the Bradenton Housing Authority to continue servicing the residents of the community as we branch out,” said Wenston DeSue, executive director of the Bradenton Housing Authority. “We are excited to be considered a candidate.”
DeSue said only three public housing authorities in Florida were given the notice to apply, including Orlando Housing Authority and St. Petersburg Housing Authority. All proposals must be given to HUD in December.
