PALMETTO — A lockdown has been lifted at Lincoln Middle School after police chased a suspect who has been arrested, according to Palmetto Police Chief Garry Lowe.
Lowe said when police responded about 10 a.m. to a trespassing call in the 200 block of 14th Street East, a man ran away from officers. Palmetto officers and Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies chased the man and also searched for him with a K-9 dog, Lowe said.
Officers eventually captured Earl Sanders, who is in his early 20s, in the 200 block of 12th Street East, and arrested him on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of cocaine.
The chase was close enough to Lincoln Middle School, 305 17th St. E., that the school was put on lockdown, Lowe said. The lockdown lasted about an hour and was lifted without incident, the chief said.
