ANNA MARIA — A candlelight vigil is planned at sunset this evening to mark the one-year anniversary of the last time anyone saw Holmes Beach motel owner Sabine Musil-Buehler alive.
The vigil has been planned by her friends on the beach in front of the Sandbar Restaurant, at 100 Spring Ave., Anna Maria. The memorial will include music and commentary from those who knew Musil-Buehler. The event is planned to begin at sunset, which forecasters say is at 5:44 p.m.
Musil-Buehler has not been seen since Nov. 4, 2008, when her boyfriend, William Cumber III, reported being the last person to see her alive. Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled over a man driving her stolen car two days later. When deputies reported the theft Nov. 6. to Musil-Buehler’s estranged husband Thomas Buehler, he reported her missing.
The car was later found to have Musil-Buehler’s blood in it, and detectives ruled someone killed her, but her body has not been recovered.
Vigil planner Debby Hall said the ceremony this evening is open to the public.
