BRADENTON - Three incumbents tonight were re-elected to seats on the Bradenton City Council.
Marianne Barnebey, in Ward 2, and Bemis Smith, in Ward 4, cruised to landslide victims.
But in Ward 3, Patrick Roff withstood a fierce challenge from Richard O'Brien, winning by a 159-vote margin, according to results posted on the Manatee County supervisor of elections Web site.
Council members in Bradenton must live in their respective wards, but all registered voters in the city were eligible to vote in each race.
The results were:
Ward 2 Marianne Barnebey - 2,655, or 70.1 percent Lori Melton - 1,130, or 29.8 percent
Ward 3 Patrick Roff - 2,077, or 51.9 percent Richard O'Brien - 1,918, or 48 percent
Ward 4 Bemis Smith - 2,145, or 57.4 percent Joel V. Henry Sr. - 1,588, or 42.5 percent
In Bradenton Beach, Michael Pierce was re-elected, beating former city commissioner William Shearon by an almost 2-1 margin. Pierce received 191 votes, to Shearon's 103 votes.
In Holmes Beach, commissioners David Zaccagnino, with 715 votes, and Pat Morton, with 520 votes, were re-elected. However, incumbent commissioner Pat Geyer lost her re-election bid. The third seat up in today's balloting was won by Al Robinson, with 530 votes.
Geyer received 485 votes, and Andrew Sheridan received 458 votes.
In Anna Maria, commissioners Dale Woodland, with 560 votes, and John Quam, with 500 votes were re-elected. The third seat on the ballot was won by Harry Stoltzfus, with 472 votes.
The third incumbent, Christine Tollette, who lost her seat, received 379 votes, and David Gryboski, received 335 votes.
In Holmes Beach and Anna Maria, residents could vote for as many as three candidates, with the top three vote-getters winning election.
