MANATEE — The Manatee County Commission gave final approval Thursday to a $540.8 million net budget, with millage rates remaining the same as last year.
The 2014-15 budget is 2 percent higher, or $10.8 million more, than last year.
The board also approved an $830.2 million five-year capital improvement program in the budget. The summary alone for the capital improvement program was 42 pages. Details were originally reviewed by the board during a budget work session in June.
Since then, officials have added more projects, such as boat ramp improvements at Jiggs Landing along the Braden River, and money for remodeling the second floor at the Historic Manatee County Courthouse, 1115 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
The county budget goes into effect Oct. 1 at the start of the fiscal year.
