BRADENTON -- Four suspects, ranging in age from 15 to 19, were arrested today in connection with the theft of a bicycle from a residence in the 2400 block of 38th Ave. W., the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reported.
The four suspects knocked on the door of the residence about 9:50 a.m. When the victim answered, they asked for someone who didn't live there, the sheriff's office said in a press release.
The victim advised the four teens at his door that no such person lived there and shut the door. About 20 minutes later, he discovered his bicycle missing from inside his garage.
One or more of the suspects had evidently entered and exited the unlocked side garage door, stealing the victim's bicycle while the victim was inside the attached home, the sheriff's office reported.
A deputy was dispatched to the area of Gregory Estates and found the suspects in the 3600 block of 19th Street West. The suspects fled, but the deputy was able to stop one of them and found the stolen bicycle in the back yard.
The victim responded to identify and claim his bicycle bicycle. The other three suspects were located by the deputy in the 3500 block of 20th Street West.
Bradenton Police Department responded to investigate the suspects for a burglary that had just occurred in their jurisdiction. Three of the four suspects were also charged in the Bradenton case.
