TAMPA -- Newly released court records say the ex-Marine accused of shooting a sheriff’s deputy in Tampa had guns, ammunition, body armor and a gas mask in his apartment.
The search warrant affidavit filed this week did not say what 24-year-old Matthew Buendia planned to do with all of it.
Beundia is accused of pulling a handgun and firing nine shots at Hillsborough Deputy Lyonelle De Veaux late Sept. 30 when she responded to domestic complaint at his apartment complex.
De Veaux was hit in her calf, thigh and left shoulder. She continues to recover at a Tampa hospital.
A standoff ended when Buendia was found unconscious in a closet.
Family and friends say Buendia suffers post- traumatic stress disorder.
The search warrant affidavit said he had been drinking and taking pills.
