MANATEE — A 48-year-old man told Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies he was struck with a shovel and robbed in a wooded area early Tuesday morning, according to a sheriff’s report.
The victim said two men told him they would give him a ride home, but he would have to walk through a wooded area first. Once in the woods, near the 6000 block of 14th Street West, the man said he was struck over the head with shovel. His wallet and bicycle were then taken just before 4:30 a.m.
The man sustained a laceration to his head and a possible broken nose. He was treated by paramedics.
