A search of a flea market led deputies to a couple of items that a 38-year-old man stole from his mother’s home, the sheriff’s office reports.
Jose Quinones’ mother, 58, said she believed her son’s substance abuse problem might have led him to steal a camcorder, painting and converter from her bedroom, the report said.
An investigation led deputies to a flea market in the 5600 block of 15th Street East. That’s where, according to the report, deputies found the missing painting at a booth belonging to a 32-year-old man.
The vendor told deputies Quinones had sold him items, the report said. Deputies also uncovered a lawn mower in the booth that also belonged to the suspect’s mother.

Quinones was later arrested in the 1200 block of 57th Avenue West and has been charged with one count of burglary, two counts of petit theft, one count of possession of stolen property and two counts of dealing with stolen property.
He is currently in Manatee County jail on a $9,860 bond.
