ANNA MARIA ISLAND -- The north end of Anna Maria Island remains under a boil water notice after service was disrupted on Sunday, according to the Manatee County Utilities Department.
Residents and businesses should bring water used for drinking or cooking to a roiling boil for one minute before using. As an alternative, bottled water may be used.
This precautionary notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey has shown the water to be safe, normally 24 - 48 hours. A rescission notice will be issued when lifted.
Service was disrupted for more than eight hours Sunday morning after a traffic accident took out a fire hydrant at 73rd Street and Gulf Drive in Holmes Beach.
