Manatee — A 50-year-old man was caught trying to hide crack cocaine under his tongue during a search, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Ray Apolinar was stopped for walking on the wrong side of the road in the 1200 block of 7th Street West at 2:45 p.m. Thursday. According to the report, he consented to a search of his person when asked.
During the search, the deputy noticed Apolinar was trying to swallow something. When Apolinar was asked to open his mouth, the deputy noticed a piece of crack cocaine on his tongue and ordered Apolinar to spit it out, the report said.
Apolinar refused and continued to try to swallow, according to the report. The deputy then applied pressure under his jaw causing him to spit out several small pieces of crack cocaine.

After being read his rights, Apolinar stated he bought the crack for $5 a piece from a man known as Lucky.
Apolinar was charged with possession of crack cocaine and tampering with evidence. He is currently in Manatee County jail on a $2,000 bond.
