BRADENTON — Officers arrested a 20-year-old female Thursday night for drug possession after responding to a call of a female screaming for help from a blue Ford Explorer, according to a report from the Bradenton Police Department.
The call lead police to Amanda Whidden, who was arrested around 10 p.m. in the 1800 block of 17th Avenue West.
Upon approaching the vehicle, police noticed the occupants appeared to be trying to conceal what turned out to be marijuana.
The arrest report said Whidden was found to have a red-and-blue grinder in her purse and two Xanax pills.
After being read her rights, Whidden said she does not have health insurance and has had tooth pain. She said in the report that she was given the Xanax by a friend to relieve her pain.
Whidden is in Manatee County jail on a $1,120 bond. She has been charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
