BRADENTON -- The undead take over the streets of downtown Bradenton for the first ever Zombie Fest, scheduled for Halloween night, Saturday on Saturday.
Several events are planned for Zombie Fest, and participants are welcome to take part in any or all of them.
For those seeking a “zombie look”, visit Classic Ink, 1310 Third Ave. W., from 6 to 8 p.m. where professional horror movie make-up artists will “zombify” participants for a $10 fee. Or, zombies may supply their own costumes and make up if they want.
Zombie Fest-goers may participate at Classic Ink’s Zombification Station or just observe the techniques and watch the professionals transform the living into the undead.
Never miss a local story.
The Zombie Walk leaves at 8 p.m. at Classic Ink and proceeds to Mattison's Riverside, 1200 First Ave. W. (Twin Dolphin pier) where zombies and party-goers can enjoy zombie appetizers, dinner, and spooky drink specials.
The Zombie Costume Contest begins at 9 p.m. at Mattison's. Contestants must be 21 years or older to participate.
From 9 p.m. to midnight, enjoy live music on Old Main Street by three local bands: The Wankers, Spankin' Fresh and Rancid Polecats.
Zombie Fest is sponsored by the Old Main Street Merchants Association and is being hosted by Classic Ink, Mattison’s and Cork’s Cigar Bar, 425 Old Main St. The event is free and open to the public.
Old Main Street between Manatee and Third avenues west (Third Avenue will remain open to east and westbound traffic) will close to vehicular traffic starting about 7 p.m. until about 2 a.m., but the live music will end at midnight.
