MANATEE — A 45-year-old Manatee man was injured while fighting off two attackers who tried to rob him, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The man was walking home from work in the 300 block of 57th Avenue West about 11:30 p.m. Thursday when he was approached by two men who demanded his wallet. When he refused, a fight ensued, according to the sheriff's office.
During the struggle, the victim was able to start choking one of the suspects, when he was struck in the back of the head with an unknown object. The suspects then fled in a black Mazda sports car, the sheriff's office said.
Paramedics treated the victim at the scence.
One of the suspects was described as being in his 30s and standing 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, with a medium build and blond hair. The second suspect was described as being in his 20s and standing 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing 125 pounds, with a medium build and black hair, according to the sheriff's office.
