FORT LAUDERDALE — A plane carrying military personnel from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, made an emergency landing at a South Florida airport.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport spokesman Greg Meyer says the 737 jet landed safely around 3 p.m. Saturday after the pilot reported a cracked windshield.
Meyer says the Continental Airlines flight was a military charter en route to Baltimore with 120 passengers and crew on board.

KEY WEST — A Miami-Dade County man is facing life in prison after being convicted of charges that he helped organize and outfit a human smuggling trip in which a 6-year-old Cuban boy died.
A jury convicted Carlos Manuel Reyes on Thursday after a two-day federal trial in Key West.

Feds announce 223 gang arrests in Florida
WASHINGTON — U.S. immigration authorities say 223 gang members and associates were arrested in Florida in the last fiscal year.
They face charges of attempted murder, robbery, and various drug and weapons charges.
