MANATEE — A 20-year-old man was arrested after authorities found a stolen gun in his truck, which witnesses said may have been used in a drive-by shooting late Tuesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 9:45 p.m., someone fired several shots at a residence in the 4700 block of Canal Road, Palmetto. None of the four people inside were hurt, and witnesses told deputies that a red, four-door pickup may have been involved.
A deputy and a Palmetto Police Department officer spotted the vehicle parked outside the Angler's Market, 3900 U.S. 41 N., made contact with the occupants.
During a search of the truck, officers found an unloaded .44-caliber Magnum handgun. A check revealed that the gun had been reported stolen in Sarasota County.
Rogelio Reyes was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed firearm and grand theft. He was being held at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $7,000.
The other occupants of the vehicle were not arrested.
