Andrew Schafer pitched 6 2/3 innings without an earned run and Colin Moore got the final out to save Manatee's 5-2 win against Tampa Catholic on Thursday in Tampa.
Schafer allowed only a pair of unearned runs and struck out three in the victory. Slugger Eric Crawford and middle infielder Zack Rodgers led the Hurricanes' (5-7) offense with a pair of 2 for 4 performances.
OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 6, ADMIRAL FARRAGUT 0 -- Josh Raimon tossed six one-hit innings with seven strikeouts against district rival Admiral Farragut Academy at Taylor Emmons Memorial Field. Parke Phillips paced the Thunder (11-2, 10-0 Class 3A-District 5) with a double and triple, and Austin Brinling added a pair of hits for ODA.
MANATEE 7, BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 0 -- The Hurricanes picked up another home win with a sweep of the Panthers in Bradenton. The Canes (7-2) and BCS (1-8) played pro sets in the all-Manatee County clash, and Bradenton Christian only won six games against Manatee.
SOUTHEAST 4, BAYSHORE 3 -- The Seminoles got wins from their bottom three singles players and split two doubles matches with the Bruins to pick up a road win.
Ivelina Kioutchoukova, the Noles' No. 3, beat Magid Joseph (6-1, 6-2), No. 4 Ruby Halfacre blanked Alyssa Jones (6-0, 6-0) and Sara Rea Jensen shut out Deborah Marcus to give Southeast (6-7) a lead going in to doubles, where Kioutcoukova and Halfacre sealed the victory.
SOUTHEAST 15, ST. PETERSBURG GIBBS 0 -- The Seminoles shut out Gibbs for three innings to pick up a blowout district win at home. Pitcher Rebecca Boesen allowed one hit and belted a home run in the victory. Third baseman Yami Regalado added a pair of hits and three runs during the brief game, and first baseman Jurnee Bennett drove in a pair of runs for the Noles. Southeast (7-4, 3-3 Class 5A-District 11) returns to the diamond Friday for a non-district home game against Seffner Christian Academy.
