Faith United Methodist Church Chancel Choir is repeating its Easter Cantata Sunday at 3 p.m. “A Journey To Hope” on April 23. This is the choir that Joseph M. Martin, the composer of this cantata, has invited to come to Carnegie Hall next November to sing under his direction. “A Journey To Hope” tells the whole Easter story using traditional spirituals and narration. Christ Episcopal Church, 4030 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, will hold its sixth annual Barefoot Sunday on April 23 to benefit the local community. Over the past five years, the church has collected thousands of shoes. You can leave your shoes for a needy Soul and be a part of doing great good for an effort where all the proceeds will remain right here in Manatee County. Holocaust Remembrance Day
The Sarasota-Bradenton community-wide commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day is at 7 p.m. April 23 at Temple Emanu-El, 151 McIntosh Road, Sarasota. No More Orphans event
The No More Foundation in partnership with All Pro Dad, Family First, and Oasis Church in Bradenton are putting on a community-wide event, The No More Orphans Experience at 5 p.m. April 30 at Oasis Church, 5215 Lorraine Road, Bradenton. Israeli Memorial Day
On April 30, the Jewish community of Sarasota-Bradenton will commemorate Israeli Memorial Day, which honors those soldiers who fell in defense of the State of Israel as well as victims of terrorism in Israel, and Israeli Independence Day, which marks the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the rebirth of a sovereign Jewish state after 2000 years of exile. The event, at Temple Emanu-El, 151 Mcintosh Road, Sarasota, begins at 2 p.m. The afternoon will include the viewing of a documentary about Israeli commandos’ amazing rescue of hijacked passengers at Entebbe Airport in Uganda, as well as a brief service; a discussion led by a young Israeli who served in the Israel Defense Forces and did volunteer work with children in Africa before coming to Sarasota-Bradenton to provide education about the Jewish State; and socializing over Israel-inspired appetizers and desserts.
