Boys, put this in a memory book. When you’re older, you’ll want pictures and accounts to retell the story of how you got adopted, how you came to be your mom’s and dad’s sons.
They love you so much. Jesus loves you more. That’s why this is in print. Others will like your story, and praise God, too.
Why? Well, I pastor a church in Lakewood Ranch. Years ago we hired your mom as one of the professionals to help us build our first building, which is almost ready for us to occupy. I’m glad for our new building, but what happened in Courtroom 13 on Wednesday, 10 days ago thrilled me.
You both got adopted that day. The judge asked your parents important questions. They beamed and made life-changing promises. They said they would always be your mom and dad.
Your mom asked me to come to the courtroom because God used our church and me last Christmas to help get you to your new home.
Before, Guy and Connie cared for you. They were your foster parents. That means they loved you, but they couldn’t always keep you. They prayed for godly parents to adopt you.
Guy got to talking about this with Ted, a man from our church, who was only Guy’s boss for about six months. That must have been part of God’s plan, too, because Ted and his wife adopted children years ago. I had told Ted that your mom and dad longed for children to love.
So last Christmas, Ted gave me photographs of you from Guy and Connie, and I gave them to your mom. Your folks made contact with Guy and Connie, prayed a lot and talked to many other people who helped make everything legal and sure.
No matter what else might happen with our building, that due to it you now have godly, devoted parents makes me so happy. I had to tell you and all who read this.
Since Jesus died for you and Jesus lives, God keeps you forever in Jesus’ book of life — our Father’s list of his adopted children, whom he will never let go.
