On Oct. 26, I and my family experienced the love and generosity of this community at a benefit to honor my wife and assist us financially.
I cannot begin to thank everyone enough for all you have done over the past five years, and continue to do today, three months after Debbie’s death.
The event was just what Debbie would have wanted. To all the community leaders, business leaders, friends, neighbors, the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and my very special extended family at the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, I will be forever grateful for all the love, support and generosity you have given us!

Golf course lauded
I want to take this opportunity to thank Gary MacDougall and his entire staff at the Manatee County golf course for all their help to our golf programs here at Manatee High School.
The county course has been our home course since the late 1970s and we have enjoyed much more than a casual relationship with everyone there.
Our girls program started in 1994 and the girls have been treated more like family members rather than customers.
To everyone in the golf shop, down in the cart barn and the greenskeepers, thank you so much from all the kids through the years, but especially from me. I have completed my final season, but I will never forget the wonderful people there at the Manatee County Course.
Here’s a great big thank you to my great friends Mary, Dennis, Larry, Art, Jimmie, Don, Tom, Dan and, of course, Gary and Becky.
God Bless you all.
