A 14-year-old Port Charlotte bicyclist was struck and killed at 8 p.m. Friday by a hit-and-run driver in Charlotte County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Devin Federly was within the southbound lane of Sheehan Boulevard, north of State Avenue, near the west edge line, when a northbound vehicle on Sheehan Boulevard traveled across a painted double-yellow centerline into the southbound lane and hit the cyclist, according to FHP.
The victim was thrown onto the west grass shoulder as the unidentified vehicle fled the scene , according to FHP. The victim was taken to Bayfront Port Charlotte, according to FHP
A witness described the hit-and-run vehicle as a silver single cab, older model pickup truck with right front and windshield damage.
