EAST MANATEE -- Deputies Monday confiscated eight more horses from properties owned by the operators of an East Manatee animal shelter raided by authorities last week, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The horses were removed from locations on Ballard Road and Wingate Road in Myakka City, according to a news release.
A multi-agency law enforcement effort led by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of Manatee County Animal Services executed a search warrant Wednesday at Napier's Log Cabin Horse and Animal Sanctuary, and seized about 300 animals as part of an animal abuse and fraud investigation.
The next day, investigators discovered the remains of about 20 dogs and cats buried on the grounds of the sanctuary, 20010 State Road 64 E.
No arrests have been made in the case, but the sheriff's office said "the investigation continues."
