There are 150 million reasons it’s so hard to cut federal spending

There’s solid support for raising taxes on the wealthy to avoid the “fiscal cliff,” but tax increases alone won’t solve the problem. Cutting spending is extremely difficult, however. Look in the mirror for the key to the problem: An ever-increasing number of Americans get a piece of federal spending.
