SARASOTA -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has taken into "protective custody" a giant Lego man who appeared on Siesta Key Public Beach today, according to a news release.
A beachgoer found the “man” near Access 5 this morning. He has tentatively been identified as “Ego Leonard,” the name on the back of his shirt. No one is sure how he arrived at the beach, whether he was placed there or if he washed up in the surf, according to the sheriff's office.
Leonard is about eight feet tall, weighs approximately 100 pounds and is made of fiberglass. The only other identifying information was the writing on the front of his shirt which says “No Real Than You Are” and the number “8” on his back.
Leonard is being kept in a secure environment until his owner comes forward, according to the sheriff's office.
According to the website http://www.egoleonard.nl/ego_gb.html, Ego Leonard comes "from the virtual world. A world that for me represents happiness, solidarity, all green and blossoming, with no rules or limitations.
"Lately however, my world has been flooded with fortune-hunters and people drunk with power. And many new encounters in the virtual world have triggered my curiosity about your way of life.
"I am here to discover and learn about your world and thoughts.
"Show me all the beautiful things that are there to admire and experience in your world. Let’s become friends, share your story with me, take me with you on a journey through beautiful meadows, words, sounds and gestures."
