BRADENTON -- Manatee County’s unemployment rate jumped to 11 percent in June, which means 1,059 more people in the county were without jobs last month than in May.
That’s about twice as many people as joined Manatee County’s labor force over the same time period.
The latest numbers, released by the statewide Agency for Workforce Innovation today, also showed that Florida’s overall unemployment rate stayed at 10.6 percent. Statewide numbers, unlike county tallies, are adjusted for seasonal considerations like changes in population and different industry’s cycles.
Both Manatee County’s and Florida’s June 2011 unemployment rates are .8 percentage points higher than rates for June 2010.
