MANATEE – There was a fatal shooting at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of 86th Street Court Northwest, the sheriff’s office reports.
The shooting was domestic-related, a release stated.
Deputies responded to a domestic violence call at the home shortly before the shooting, but saw no evidence of injury and left after giving the husband and wife domestic violence packets, according to sheriff’s spokesman Dave Bristow.
As they were driving away, the deputies looked back and saw the man come out of the house and collapse from his wounds, said Bristow, who added the woman was intoxicated.
Bristow said the woman is in custody and will face murder charges, Bristow said.
The sheriff’s department was called to the home for one prior incident this year, he said.
After the shooting, the sheriff’s office secured the area of 86th Street Court Northwest south of Ninth Avenue Northwest.
Detectives told neighbors at the scene there was a deceased person in the home, but would not confirm if it was a homicide or a suicide.
No other details were released as of press time.
